Model Wears Fake Wedding Ring In Public To Stop Men From Flirting With Her

She figured out a simple way to keep unwanted attention at bay.

A Brazilian model says she’s had so much trouble with men approaching her all the time that she decided to wear a fake wedding ring to keep them at a distance.

Influencer Ju Isen shared that slipping on the pretend bling before stepping outside has made a world of difference when it comes to dodging unwanted advances.

Isen, who has a massive following of 2.6 million fans on Instagram, explained that guys used to hit on her pretty much everywhere — whether she was working out at the gym, grabbing groceries, picking up medicine at the pharmacy, or even just relaxing at the local swimming pool.

“I was tired of the constant approaches – it was nonstop, even when I clearly wasn’t interested,” Isen, who is currently single, revealed to NeedToKnow.

“So I put on a simple ring on my left hand, and it was like hitting a mute button,” the 39-year-old added.

Wearing a fake wedding ring turned out to be a simple but effective way to signal she was off-limits.

“Even if it’s not real, it is a deterrent to being approached,” she explained. “It has worked for years. It is just visible enough to keep people from coming up to me.”

She noticed that once she started wearing the ring, guys began treating her differently. Now, she said they “think twice before saying anything.”

“It has influenced how I’m treated in places like the gym or bars,” she added.

Isen even shared a memory about a time at the pharmacy when a man started chatting her up, but the moment he noticed the ring, his whole attitude changed.

“He asked if I was married, I just smiled, and he said, ‘Got it, sorry,’ and walked away,” she said. “It was respectful, and I got to keep my peace.”

The model mentioned that she first started this little trick when she was just 23 years old. Now, it’s become second nature for her whenever she heads out.

“It’s not about tricking anyone — it’s about setting boundaries. It’s a quiet way of saying, ‘I’m not available for this kind of interaction,'” Isen explained. “And the most interesting part? It still works.”

Although she usually keeps the ring on, Isen did stop wearing it for a short time a few years back. During that break, she noticed something — the attention from guys wasn’t nearly as strong, and she believes dating apps are partly to blame for that shift.

“Men today no longer have the initiative they once had. It’s like they’re unmotivated,” she observed. “Even the bad pickup lines that used to annoy me have become rare.”

Isen is convinced that “technology killed flirting.”

“Nowadays, everyone just waits for a match on a dating app. No one makes eye contact, no one approaches naturally anymore. And that makes relationships feel more empty and mechanical,” she said.

Even though the dating world has changed, she still wears the ring to keep random flirtations at bay — and honestly, she does not miss the attention one bit.

“At least not that kind of attention,” she admitted. “I prefer peace, if a man is really interested, he’ll have to go beyond the obvious. And if I’m interested too, I’ll just explain I’m not actually married.”

“The ring has become more than just an accessory, it’s a filter.”
